Our mobile application "Pays Catalan" by SIGNÉCO ®, led us to two fundamental questions: "How to encourage professionals who make real efforts to reduce their carbon footprint?" and "How to help motivated individuals make the right choices in ecological actions?"
To answer the first, we adapted a filter on our mobile application. But to answer the second, we needed to go further, and so we chose to open this portal.

Sure, we don't claim to bring you "the good and holy word of behavior to adopt daily," but we aim to help people who want to actively participate in biodiversity protection by offering them concrete, realistic actions with a measurable positive impact.

We cannot support all profiles, even if we regret it, we should not do it!

Let's be realistic: the current environmental crisis is a major issue involving a high degree of complexity. Given this multidisciplinary nature, it would be dishonest to suggest that SIGNÉCO^® can address all problems. Therefore, we have chosen to focus on small businesses, particularly professional hosts.

The idea of the CHLORODIA^® site, which lists deserving companies and offers support for acquiring a sustainably efficient home, comes from Pascale LEFEBURE. To ensure the project didn't stay in a drawer, she funded the creation of this portal and the section within SIGNÉCO that maintains it from her own funds.

The choice to create a web portal

To explain why we chose the web portal format rather than a commercial website, here is a brief presentation of the two approaches:

Website

Definition

A website is a collection of interconnected web pages, accessible via an internet browser, and hosted on a web server. Each web page can contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia content. A website is generally designed to provide specific information or services to its users.

• Structure: Websites have a hierarchical structure with main pages and subpages.

• Objective: Provide information, promote products or services, offer specific tools or functionalities (such as contact forms, blogs, online stores).
• Interactivity: Variable, ranging from static pages to interactive features like forums, comments, and forms.
• Examples: Company websites, personal blogs, e-commerce sites, news sites.

Web Portal

Definition

A web portal is a type of website that serves as a main entry point on the web for its users. Web portals are designed to aggregate various sources of information and services in one place, often offering personalized access to the user.

Characteristics

• Structure: Portals have a complex structure with main pages and numerous modules or sections dedicated to different types of information and services.
• Content: The content is very dynamic and personalized, often updated in real-time, and aggregates information from different sources.
• Objective: Centralize access to a variety of resources and services, such as news, emails, forums, social networks, collaboration tools, and more.
• Interactivity: Very high, with features such as interface personalization, user dashboards, discussion forums, messaging services, and other interactive tools.
• Examples: Yahoo!, MSN, Google (to some extent with its integrated services like Gmail, Google News, Google Drive).

In summary, a website is generally simpler and focused on one or several specific topics, while a web portal is a more complex platform that aggregates a multitude of services and information in one place, offering a personalized and interactive user experience. Since we aim to provide a maximum of services, we chose the web portal format.
